Review: Books, Iced Coffee, and a Side of Dragons
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an advanced copy of Books, Iced Coffee, and a Side of Dragons by Amanda Lovelace to review! I’ll be honest, the title is what immediately hooked me into this one. Three of my favorite things in one book! What’s not to love?
To start with, the art style in this absolutely fits the story. It’s a warm, cozy summer story with plenty of coffee, books, and dragons. Also, this had made me want a dragon. Even with them being modeled after cats, and I already have one of those. The dragons in this are so cute. Like seriously, so cute. I think Charlie would get along with one if I had one.
The story itself is more told slice of life, with short scenes from Luci and Aster’s life. While I do wish we could have gotten a little more about this cozy magical world as a whole, I enjoyed getting this glimpse into their lives. Especially as they both work to save their businesses in this small beach town and we also get to see the community gather around them.
If you want a lightheared, cozy graphic novel to finish out your summer, definitely pick this one up when it comes out at the end of August.
