Review: Tell the Ghosts I’m Gone
Thanks to NetGalley and Bloomsbury YA for an advanced copy of Tell the Ghosts I’m Gone by Kalynn Bayron to review! I’ve always loved Bayron’s works. Add some supernatural investigation from teens who have powers and I was sold. This one is also comign out just in time for Halloween season!
What I immediately liked about this book was the setting and atmosphere. Bayron sets the tone from the beginning, pulling you into this underbelly of Portland. In a way, Portland felt like a character in and of itself, especially as the four teens unravel the mystery that’s set before them. Overall, the setting helps to make the story what it is.
There’s a bit of a found family aspect to the story. We also get a good mix of ages in the four main characters. As is typical in her books, Bayron did a good job making them all feel distinct. In fact, we feel like we get to be a part of their little family as they investigate the supernatural.
All in all, if you enjoy shows like Ghost Hunters, this might be the book for you when it comes out in September!
